Mark your calendar for Weds., May 16, 2012: The Quilter's Escape luncheon, is proud to introduce our speaker, Peg Bingham. Peg has sent each store one of her quilt tops to display and 10 of her patterns. She is a quilt designer (from Akron, Ohio) of pieced Celtic Knot designs. Using her patterns and techniques, these complicatefd looking designs are easy to machine piece. Stop in to see her sample and buy your ticket!
January 7th, 2012 is DRESS YOUR PET DAY! As a young girl and into my teens, I made our dog, Bippy, wear all types of outfits that I made for her and then I would parade her through the house. Imagine that now there actually is a National Day to celebrate this. Bring in your dog or cat (If dressed in an outfit, you can enter four Tickets!) and put your name into the drawing for our surprise pet basket.

CLASSES FOR WINTER 2012

QUILTING 101 - Learn the basics of quilting by hand or machine in this nine week class. We cover tools, fabric selection, template making, pattern drafting, rotary cutting, piecing, machine quilting and binding. Each student will complete a 5 block table runner.
Nine Weds. beginning Jan 11, 2012 - March 7, 2012. 6:30PM - 9PM COST: $95.00 includes 15% off all supplies!
EUREKA- Greta Keverline's log cabin quilt received so many compliments that I asked her to teach it. The class will meet once a month for 6 sessions. SMR. 3rd Saturday of the month; Jan. 21, Feb. 18, march 17, April 21, May 19 and June 16 10AM - Noon. COST:$ 65.00.
EMBROIDERED LANDSCAPE - start with a photograph of a scene with flowers. We will colorwash the background with acrylic paints and then free-motion stitch (straight & zigzag) to create the flowers, trees, hills, etc. This class is designer or beginners. SMR and book required.
FRIDAY & SATURDAY, Feb. 17 & 18 6PM - 8:30PM and 4PM - 7PM. COST: $40.00.
PUNCHNEEDLE EMBROIDERY - Want to try a new & addictive technique? Your kit includes the pattern drawn on muslin and the punchneedle. Choose the pattern when you register. This is a portable project to carry with you in the car and/or to the beach.

BEADING BASICS - Learn the basics of beading by hand, where and how to use them on your quilts to add interest and sparkle. You will make a sampler of techniques.
WEDS., Jan. 25 Noon - 3 PM OR FRIDAY, Feb. 10 Noon- 3PM COST: $18.00.
DESIGN EXERCISES 1:STRAIGHT LINES: Let me lead you through some exercises that will lessen your fear of design. Start with a one line exercise, then a two line exercise and then three lines, etc. I promise that you will leave class with at least one original quilt block design. Sunday, Jan. 29 10AM -1PM COST:$ 18.00
PAPER PIECING - Learn the tricks of paper piecing while creating heart blocks. Use the blocks to display charm or button collections or use them as signature blocks. SMR. Thursday, Feb. 2nd 11AM - 1PM COST: $18.00 includes pattern.
CONTEMPORARY HEART - Instead of giving a card, give a quilted heart wall hanging. No pattern is required because we freehand cut the design. Easy enough for a beginner and completed during class! SMR. Sat., Feb. 4th 4PM - 7PM COST: $18.00.
DESIGN EXERCISES II - More exercises to allow you to create original designs. This class focuses on adding curved lines to straight line traditional blocks and more. SUNDAY, Feb. 5 10AM - 1PM Cost: $18.00.
STASH BASH: STRIP TWIST - This crib, lap or full size quilt may be made from prere-purchased jelly rolls or you may cut your own strips. I cut my own strips so that I could use up some of my stash. Easy enough for the beginner. You will learn to sew a partial seam. SMR.
SAT., Feb. 25 5PM - 9PM COST: $25.00 includes pattern.
FOUR FQ PURSE - BACK AGAIN BY POPULAR DEMAND! Sue Roberts will guide you through the steps of this cute bag. She's added extra pockets! Minimum class size of three students SMR.

MACHINE QUILTING - an introduction to the 5 basic quilt shapes used in all machine quilting designs, plus echo quilting ,stippling and more. YOU MUST HAVE WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR MACHINE!
SUNDAYS, Jan. 15 & 22 10AM - 1PM COST: $40.00.
BAA BAA BLACK SHEEP - Machine or hand appliqued wall hanging which depicts the nursery rhyme. Sheep are contained within a pieced rail fence. SMR. Sun. FEb. 26 10AM - 2PM COST:$ 20.00 includes pattern.
SKEWED STARS AND TESSELATIONS - Learn to draft traditional quilt blocks into an asymmetrical 4-sided shape. You will create the design and make templates in the 1st session and then choose fabrics and piece blocks in the 2nd session. SMR for 2nd session.
Fri., March 9 6 - 9PM and Sat., March 10 4-7PM COST: $ 35.00.
AMERICANA ROSE- create this folk art wall quilt of a basket of 3-dimensional roses. Techniques include ruching, reverse applique, folded buds, ruched buds, 3/4 ruched roses, ten penny roses and supee fine stems. SMR. THURSDAYS, mARCH 14, 21 & 28
6PM - 8pm Cost: $30.00.
STASH BASH; THE BRAID - Join me for an evening of sewing, friendship and my special ham barbecue sandwiches. The traditional braid has been updated by using unequal lengths of strips. No set amount of fabric is required. You decide the size and the theme. SMR. Cutting must be begun prior to class to make the best use of your time. SAT., March 31 4PM - 9PM COST:$30.00 includes food!
